Traceability is crucial for manufacturers in sectors that are heavily regulated and require strict quality control. Sage 50 Accounts, Sage’s Accounting solution for small businesses in the UK, does not have native traceability functionality. Sage 50 Manufacturing, Sage’s now-retired manufacturing solution for Sage 50 Accounts did offer this functionality, but only in an all-or-nothing approach. Traceability in Cim50 Manufacturing, Sage’s only recommended replacement for Sage 50 Manufacturing, includes batch and serial number tracking by item, which can be enabled or disabled for specific stock items. In this blog post, discover how your SME business can maintain batch/serial traceability with Cim50 Manufacturing for Sage 50 Accounts.
Cim50’s traceability functionality sits within the Stock Control module. This is where non-traceable, batch-traceable and serialised items are listed. Batch numbers apply to multiple items and serial numbers to individual items.
The Cim50 solution can generate batch and serial numbers manually or automatically. All Sage 50 transaction types can be carried out within Cim50 for traceable items, including goods receipts, dispatching stock, quarantine, inspection and more.
With Cim50 Manufacturing for Sage 50 Accounts, you can store additional information against traceable items such as bin locations, sell by dates, use by dates and custom fields. It is also possible to attach documents – like pictures or certificates of conformity – to batches or serial numbers. Users can also easily split a delivery into multiple batches with different supplier batch numbers and bin locations.
In addition, with Cim50, you can select specific batches of stock to issue to a Works Order or simply use auto FIFO (first in, first out). Then, when it’s time to dispatch, you can select a specific batch for the Sales Order and generate a delivery note. If required, with Cim50, you can set up your delivery notes to include batch details.
What are the key benefits of Cim50’s Traceability functionality for Sage 50 Accounts?
- Maintain full traceability across purchasing, production and sales processes.
- Capture detailed information and documentation on batches/serial numbers.
- Selectively enable traceability by item rather than an all or nothing approach.
