Support Calls August 2025
In August, our team successfully handled 408 support calls across all software solutions. Notably, we saw a rise in queries related to Sage 50 Accounts data corruption. This may be linked to key team members being on annual leave and routine data checks being missed.
We’d like to take this opportunity to emphasise the importance of regularly running Check Data and ensuring your data is clean and error-free, in line with Sage’s best practices. Further guidance on data corruption and cleansing can be found in the Hints & Tips section below or in our blog.
💡Hints & Tips
Sage 50 Accounts – Data Corruption
No one wants to log into Sage 50 Accounts only to be greeted by a data corruption warning. It’s not only disruptive to daily operations but can also lead to costly delays and potential data repair fees. Maintaining healthy data is essential to keeping your system running. Regular checks and proactive data management can help prevent these issues before they arise.
Common Causes of Data Corruption:
1. Power Interruptions – Sudden power cuts or surges during data processing can damage files.
2. Viruses or Malware – Malicious software can interfere with Sage’s operations or corrupt data.
3. Software Crashes – Unexpected shutdowns of Sage or the operating system can lead to data issues.
4. Network Disruptions – Interruptions during data transfer across a network can cause corruption.
5. Improper Shutdowns – Closing Sage or turning off the computer incorrectly can result in data loss.
Symptoms of Data Corruption:
1. Unexpected behaviour or frequent crashes while using the software.
2. Reports that appear inaccurate or incomplete.
3. Error messages when attempting to access or save data.
4. “Warning – Data Corruption” alerts on login or during processing.
5. Restricted access to certain modules, records or transactions.
How to Detect and Fix Data Corruption: Run a Data Check
1. Navigate to: File > Maintenance > Check Data
2. Review the File Maintenance Problems Report.
3. Errors: These must be resolved before continuing to use the software.
4. Refer to this article for the recommended solutions to each error.
Restore From a Backup
If the errors are severe or cannot be repaired, restore from a recent clean backup.
Important: If you’re using Cim50, ensure that both Sage 50 Accounts and Cim50 are restored from backups taken at the same date and time to maintain consistency
Seek Professional Support
For complex or unresolvable issues, you may need to contact CIM Support, Sage Support or a data repair specialist.
Important: CIM is an accredited Business Partner of Adept Tools, who offer a highly regarded data repair service, often faster and more cost-effective than Sage’s own repair services.
Data Management
To ensure that your system is running at its optimum, it is recommended that you ensure data management is considered as a process that should be undertaken at a minimum once a year. Large volumes of data can start to slow the system, and processes such as backups and VAT Returns can take longer to run, and it can be slower when trying to find records or transactions.
The recommended levels are shown below, and you will receive a notification when you are approaching the recommended levels, which will suggest that you archive the data and remove transactions.
Sage provides an article on archiving your company data, and once the archive has been created, you are able to clear down sales orders, purchase orders, invoices, credit note,s and quotations.
Important: CIM offers a chargeable service to undertake the archiving of your data and also to clear down your transactions. Please contact your account manager if you are interested in receiving a quotation for this service.

Cim50 – Data Validation Not Running
Customer Own Upgrades – If Sage 50 Accounts is upgraded on all client PCs but not on the server, the CIM Data Validation process will fail. To avoid this issue, please ensure that the server is also upgraded whenever performing upgrades to Sage 50 Accounts..
