💡 Hints & Tips

🛠️ Upgrades & Compatability

👋 Meet Support

As we move into January, it’s important for you to prepare your systems for the year ahead. This includes planning a fresh backup and archive of your primary Sage 50 dataset, reviewing user access permissions and lock dates to ensure only authorised users can post back-dated transactions, and scheduling non-working days in Cim50 to maintain accurate capacity planning and MRP.

💡 Tips & Tricks

  1. Function key time‑savers: Use F‑keys (F1–F12) in common screens to speed up routine processing
  2. Batch change wizard: Tidy reference data (e.g., terms, defaults) in bulk rather than one record at a time.
  3. Bank rules refresh: If you use Bank Feeds, add/clean up rules now, as it saves time every week for the rest of the year.
  1. Non-working days: Go to Settings ▸ Non‑Working Days and add 2026 holidays to keep schedules and lead times realistic.
  2. Capacity & calendars: If you changed shifts or working patterns, update Work Centre calendars so queue times and due dates stay trustworthy.
  3. BOM hygiene: Run through the top 20 BOMs: remove obsolete components, confirm operation times, and re‑cost.

🏆 New Year Housekeeping Checklists

✅ Run Check Data and fix errors/warnings.

✅ Chart of Accounts – confirm mappings, especially if you’ve added new nominal codes

✅ Budgets – roll forward/update for the new financial year

✅ Lock date – set a sensible posting lock to protect prior periods.

✅ Bank Recs – reconcile all bank accounts through the last working day of December.

✅ Optional tidy – clear audit trail / remove old records / compress data (after backup)

✅ Update Non‑Working Days and Factory Calendar.

✅ Recalculate lead times where suppliers or routes changed.

✅ Validate minimum/maximum stock on key items.

✅ Review Works Order templates and inspection steps for compliance.

🛠️ Upgrades & Compatability

If you’re considering the latest Sage 50 release, please do not upgrade until you’ve checked that Cim50 and any third‑party add‑ons are compatible, which includes: bespoke tools, ODBC reports, etc. We routinely receive calls from customers who upgraded Sage 50 first and then found that dependent apps were not yet compatible. To avoid downtime, ask us about our peace‑of‑mind upgrade service: we can test your data, verify dependencies, schedule the live upgrade, and provide training if needed.
