Support Newsletter – March 2023 – Cim50 & Sage 50 Accounts

Welcome to the March edition of the CIM Support newsletter.

Important!

When there is a new release of Sage 50 Accounts it is so important that you do not upgrade until you have checked whether the versions of your third-party applications are compatible, such as Cim50, whether any bespoke programs or applications require upgrading, or any ODBC reports need reconnecting.

Following the release of Sage 50 v29 Accounts in February we received a high number of support calls from customers who upgraded their Sage 50 Accounts only to find that Cim50 or other applications were not compatible. This puts a strain on our support resources, as we do not want our customers to be without a system, but we cannot always react to the level we would normally, so please reach out if you are thinking of upgrading.

Are you aware that CIM offers a peace of mind upgrade service?

We can provide different levels of upgrade service, which can include a review of your hardware for compatibility, to minimise downtime during the live upgrade we can take a copy of your data and run it through a test upgrade, ensure that any 3rd party applications, bespoke development and reports, etc are all upgraded for you. We will assign one of our Consultants to carry out the upgrade on an agreed date and they can also provide training to bring users up to speed with the latest new features.

If the upgrade service is something you would be interested in, please contact your Account Manager, Martin Conner who will be only too pleased to talk to you about the process that works for you, provide a quotation for our time, and let you know our current lead time.

Sage 50 Accounts

  • Are you aware that you can access Practice Data and Demo Data in Sage 50 Accounts?  This gives you the opportunity to try new features or practice tasks.  For more information on this please click here.
  • Have you set any Favourite reports or layouts?  By setting the reports and layouts that you use most often as Favourites, it will save time by not having to search through the reports and layouts list to identify the one you wish to use.  More information on this function can be found here.
  • Is your Financial Year End approaching?  Do you need a refresher on how to prepare and run Year End?  There is a webinar recording that covers all your needs that you can access by clicking here

Note: You will need to enter your credentials before the recording starts.

Cim50

  • Did you know that Cim50 offers a user-friendly way to calculate your business carbon footprint? There are 2 different modes available in Cim50 for calculating the carbon emissions of products that you manufacture. All calculations result in a “Carbon Cost” defined in KgCO2e (Kilograms of CO2 equivalent) which is calculated when a works order is completed.  Information on Cim50’s Carbon Footprint functionality can be read here.
  • An important but often overlooked function is housekeeping of your system.  Often when we receive calls that systems are slow, it is because no housekeeping has been performed.  To help with speed issues we would recommend that BOMs and WOs are archived annually.

CIM Challenge

Our CIM Challenge for 2023 is to walk 11,072 miles, that’s the equivalent of walking the coastline of mainland Britain. Whilst we won’t actually be walking the coastline, we will be updating you each month with how many miles we have walked collectively as a company.

During February 2023 we walked 947 miles. Again, we have exceeded our expected mileage to the end of February by 184 miles.

What a fantastic effort by all at CIM.
