Situation

Amcanu are a family business who have been designing and building steel enclosures for generators and compressors for almost 50 years. Based in a small harbour town called Burry Port, in South Wales, most of Amcanu’s team live in the local community. They pride themselves on both the work they do and their support for local groups and organisations in South Wales.

Amcanu have always used Sage accounting products but have used three different MRP systems over the years. These had a varying level of success. They found they were either “difficult to use, expensive and/or clunky.”

When Sage 50 Manufacturing was announced as end of life – their most recent software investment – they started looking for a new solution that would keep up with their growth.

Solution

Owain, Amcanu’s Managing Director, had formal demonstrations with a number of providers when looking for a new manufacturing software. But, as a business, they were most attracted to Cim50 for several reasons.

Not only did it suit their requirements in terms of its full integration with Sage 50 Accounts, but it also suited the size of their business and their budget. They also liked Cim50’s report structures and its use of Microsoft SQL. Thanks to our migration tool, we were able to transfer all of Amcanu’s data from Sage 50 Manufacturing into Cim50, ready for the team to use.

The CIM Software team installed Cim50 with all of the available modules (Stock Control, BOM, Works Orders, Quotations, Planning and SFDC). As well as this, Owain and the team have participated in a full program of consultancy and training and feel they are using the system to its full potential.

Success

By using Cim50, Amcanu have saved their business both time and money.

According to Owain, they are more efficient with their time, have made huge savings in material and labour planning, and the system has helped them ensure they always have the right level of stock available to meet customer demands.

With the Shop Floor Data Capture module, they are also able to track people’s time, see who’s worked extra hours and where they can streamline their processes.

For Amcanu, “the beauty of Cim50 is the fact that it is a fully integrated system. The modules themselves are useful but the true benefit is having them all working together as one.”
