EM Acoustics combine precision engineering with robust build quality to deliver top-class performance on demand. Their modern factory in Surrey combines precision CNC and robotics with skilled hand craftwork to manufacture professional loudspeakers. Their flexible design-to-prototype workflow allows them to easily accommodate special customer requirements as well as manufacture their core product range.
They previously used Sage 50 Manufacturing Bill of Materials alongside Sage 50 Accounts to manage their production. This solution only allowed trial kitting of one bill of material at a time, which therefore meant common components were not taken into consideration. This forced the development of various spreadsheets to manage costing, serial number traceability and multi trial kitting.
Using spreadsheets which were separate to Sage 50 resulted in duplication of data, which was often open to error, time consuming and not real-time.
EM Acoustics initially enquired about upgrading to Sage 50 Manufacturing Batch Controller, but without multiple trial kitting and serial number traceability, this was not a feasible option.
We proposed our own alternative manufacturing solution, Cim50, which included both multiple trial kitting and serial number traceability. This would allow them to replace the spreadsheets, remove duplication and also reduce time-consuming processes.
In May 2019, EM Acoustics acquired a 3 user Cim50 Solution with Stock Control, Bill of Materials and Works Orders.
We migrated their data from Sage 50 Manufacturing Bill of Materials using our intuitive migration tool, effortlessly transferring data from one system to another.
Including the migration and introductory training on each module, EM Acoustics only required 3 days before going live with Cim50 Manufacturing.
According to the team, there has been a massive improvement in the time spent processing orders and factory workflow. Rather than a day or two a week, this has been reduced to only a couple of hours a week, with more accurate results too.
Moving away from spreadsheets has reduced the number of errors processing data, as they now have one solution to control their entire manufacturing business’ processes.
Cim50 has enabled EM Acoustics to trial kit multiple bill of materials and have complete visibility of stock figures, including serial number traceability, which were key pain points from their previous solution.
