On Sunday, a number of the CIM team took on a marathon walk as part of our 2023 charity challenge. In case you missed it, we’re walking 11,072 miles this year (the equivalent to walking the coastline of mainland Britain) to raise funds for Alfie’s Wish. Alfie’s Wish provide special days out for families with children who have cancer. To help boost our miles walked/fundraising efforts, we decided to step our challenge up a notch and take on 26 miles in one day…
Our walk started at 8am in Eastleigh, Southampton, and we followed the Itchen Way to Winnall in Winchester. We then turned around and did the whole route in reverse. 26 miles later, the team finished back in Eastleigh at about 6pm.
The route was very scenic and, as you can see, we were very lucky with the weather. The walk took just under 10 hours to complete and it’s fair to say we were very pleased to sit down at the end.
Our marathon walk has added over 260 miles to our total! So, thank you and congratulations to everyone who took part, what a great team effort!
But, this challenge wasn’t just a test of our endurance, it was to raise additional funds for Alfie’s Wish. If you’d like to help us (and our blisters) reach our fundraising total, our JustGiving page widget is linked below.
Thank you on behalf of us and the team at Alfie’s Wish!
