What is Sage 200

As technology continues to evolve, so does the demand for comprehensive business management systems that can adapt to today’s economic environment. Considering upgrading your business management software in 2024? In this short guide we’ll outline what Sage 200 is, who it is suitable for and run through a number of its features and benefits…

What is Sage 200?

Sage 200 is a modular finance and business management software with a simple, intuitive interface. There are various modules available to manage all aspects of your business’ accounts, finances, and other ERP requirements. With Sage 200 you can control your business with core financial and stock management functions.

Not only can you choose different modules based on what your business needs, you can also scale up or down as required. It isn’t just an accountancy software but can be used to manage other functions in your business too. From sales to customer services, Sage 200 enables your team to see up to date information as and when they need it. Crucially, you can maintain control over sensitive data with permission-based users. Only allow those required to see personal or restricted information.

Sage 200 is Making Tax Digital compatible and also meets all GDPR obligations too. This is because you can easily update records as and when required. Not only that, it also combines with Microsoft 365 enabling you to boost your productivity and provide more control over your business.

For businesses that need more functionality beyond that provided by Sage’s modules, there are a range of connected apps designed for specific industries. For those in the Manufacturing industry, our product Cim200 is a highly rated add-on that provides all the tools needed to control each stage of the manufacturing process.

It’s worth noting that there are two variants of Sage 200:

  • Sage 200 Standard (a straightforward cloud-based accounting solution with all of the essential financial and stock capabilities)

  • Sage 200 Professional (a more detailed solution for businesses with complex processes that have specific requirements or those that need to connect to current systems)

The Sage 200 Professional solution is also available in both On Premise and Cloud Options Powered by Microsoft SQL Server and Azure. Based on your business’ requirements, infrastructure and budget, CIM Software can recommend which is the best solution for your business.

Modules Available in Sage 200:

Who is it for?

Sage 200 is ideal for companies with a turnover of £1 million to £20 million. Or, typically, 10 to 200 employees, across all business sectors. In terms of upgrading, it’s recommended to make the investment when your number of users, data volume and processes exceed that of Sage 50 Accounts. It’s worth noting that there are other differences between Sage 50 and Sage 200, which guide the decision-making process.
