About Locations

Use these settings to choose how to process and manage additional features from Cim200.

Open: Stock Control > Stock Maintenance > Locations

Warehouse Hierarchy can be used to determine, for each manufacturing warehouse location, which other locations can be used to draw component stock.

Once configured, the hierarchy will be used by MRP to determine available component stock, or when allocating or issuing stock in Works Orders.

The order in which warehouses are checked for stock can also be determined, by assigning a priority number against each warehouse in the Stock Item Details screen.

Configure Hierarchy

For warehouses to be available for use in planning and works orders, you must select Valid for Component Source on the warehouse details.

If you don’t, then you can select the warehouse in the hierarchy, but it will not be available for works order allocations for the parent warehouse and will not be assessed by planning when looking at required replenishments for the parent warehouse.

Select a build warehouse, then select Configure Hierarchy to set which component warehouses can be used to fulfil build demand for that warehouse. Tick the box to select each valid warehouse.

Apply to Stock Items

Cim200 allows warehouse hierarchies to be set for each item.

Once valid component warehouses have been selected for a build warehouse, you can select Apply to Stock Items to update multiple stock items with these selections.

Tick the box next to each item that you want to update. Use Select All to select all items in the list. Use the filter box and quick search box to assist in finding the item(s) to update, or to filter the list if you don’t want to update all items.

Select the Overwrite Existing Hierarchy option to remove any warehouse hierarchies that are already setup for the selected items and warehouse, and update with the new hierarchy being applied.

Open: Stock Control > Maintenance > Locations > Edit

Select from the following settings:

Priority

If Warehouse Hierarchy is in use for Works Orders and MRP, each warehouse location can be configured with a Priority number to set an order of preference for sourcing component stock, where a component item is stocked in multiple warehouse locations.

Set a priority number to indicate the level of priority assigned to the warehouse. Component stock will be sourced from the item’s valid warehouses in order of lowest priority number first.

The Priority number set here acts as a default; it can be overridden for each item through the Stock Item Details screen.
