Add Component

Open: Bill of Materials > Utilities > Maintenance > Add Components

The Add Components screen allows users to add one or more stock items as components across multiple records within Cim200. This feature simplifies the process of introducing new components into Bills of Materials, Works Orders, and Configured Quotations without having to manually edit each record individually.

Stock Items to Add

Use this section to define the stock items that will be added as components.

Each row allows entry of the following fields:

  • Code – Select the stock item to add using the lookup list.

  • Name – Displays the description of the selected stock item.

  • Quantity – Enter the default component quantity to be added.

  • Unit of Measure – Displays or selects the relevant unit of measure.

  • Type – Displays the type of component (e.g. Component or Sub-Assembly).

You can manage the list of components to be added using:

  • Add / Edit / Delete – Add new rows, edit existing ones, or remove unwanted entries.

  • View Stock Item – Opens the selected stock item record.

  • View Sub Assembly – Opens the linked sub-assembly bill of material, if applicable.

Options

Use the checkboxes to select which records the component(s) should be added to:

Add to Bill of Materials
Adds the selected components to active and new BOM versions.

  • Exclude from adding to bill of materials on-hold – Skips BOMs currently marked as on hold.
  • Exclude from adding if component already exists on bill of materials – Prevents duplicate component entries.
  • Add to all components lists – Available when Multiple Component Lists are enabled, applying the change to all lists.

Add to Works Orders
Adds the selected components to any live works orders (not complete or cancelled).

  • Exclude from adding if component already exists on works order – Prevents duplicate entries.

Note: If the Allow processing of completed works orders option is enabled in Cim200 settings, components may also be added to completed works orders.

Add to Configured Quotations
Adds components to all live configured quotations (not completed or cancelled).

  • Exclude from adding if component already exists on configured quotation – Prevents duplication.

Processing

Once stock items have been selected and the relevant update options ticked, Cim200 will display a selection screen for each record type chosen (Bill of Materials, Works Orders, and/or Configured Quotations).

After confirming selections:

  • The chosen components are added to all selected records.

  • An audit record is created for all changes, except for configured quotations.

Note: If BOM versioning is enabled, only the active versions of the selected Bills of Material are updated.

Finally, the system will prompt the user to confirm whether they wish to re-cost the affected BOMs, Works Orders, and/or Configured Quotations.
