Servicing
The Servicing list view shows the machine resources and tooling resources that have become due (or overdue) for service, based on the service interval you have configured against each resource.
When MRP runs, Cim50 looks at each machine and tooling resource that has a service interval configured (a Frequency other than “None” and an Interval Value greater than zero). It works out how much time (or how many machine hours) have passed since the resource was last serviced, and if that exceeds the interval, a service recommendation is raised for you to action.
Resources whose Frequency is “None”, or whose Interval Value is zero, are treated as not being on a service schedule and will not appear on the Servicing list view (or on the MRP Exclusions list view).
How service intervals are calculated
There are two ways a service interval can be configured against a resource:
By time: Days, Weeks, Months or Years. Cim50 measures the time elapsed since the Last Serviced date on the resource. If that elapsed time is greater than the interval, the resource is recommended for service.
By machine hours: Cim50 totals the machine time booked against the resource on shop floor bookings whose finish time is on or after the Last Serviced date. If the total machine hours exceeds the interval, the resource is recommended for service.
The Frequency and Interval Value are configured against each individual Machine Resource and Tooling Resource. See the Bill of Materials > Machine Resources and Bill of Materials > Tooling Resources articles for details on how to set them.
Note: For a machine hours interval to produce a recommendation, the resource must have a Last Serviced date set, otherwise Cim50 has no baseline to measure usage from. Where this is missing, the resource will appear in the MRP Exclusions list view rather than the Servicing list view, with an explanation. See the Exclusions article for more detail.
Standard columns
Rec. Reference: The internal recommendation reference. Service recommendations are prefixed with “SVC-M-” for machine resources and “SVC-T-” for tooling resources, followed by the resource’s internal identifier. Each resource can only have one outstanding service recommendation on the list at any one time.
Resource: The reference of the machine or tooling resource that has become due for service.
Description: The description of the resource.
Type: Either “Machine” or “Tooling”, to indicate which register the resource belongs to.
Frequency: The service frequency configured against the resource (Hours, Days, Weeks, Months or Years).
Interval: The interval value configured against the resource.
Elapsed: The amount of time, or number of machine hours, that have passed since the resource was last serviced.
Overdue: How far past the interval the resource is – this is the elapsed value minus the interval. The higher this number, the more overdue the resource is for service.
Last Serviced: The date and time the resource was last serviced. This may be empty for a brand new resource that has never been serviced.
Status: The current status of the service recommendation. “Awaiting Action” until you action it, then “Actioned” once a service booking has been recorded.
Message: A short summary describing when the resource was last serviced, how much time or how many machine hours have elapsed, the configured interval and the amount overdue. For example: “Last serviced 2026-03-14 09:00. 18.5h elapsed (interval 12h) — 6.5h overdue.”
Rows are sorted with any configuration warnings at the top, then the most overdue resources next, so the resources needing your attention soonest appear first.
How elapsed time is calculated where Last Serviced is empty
If a resource has a time-based service interval (Days, Weeks, Months or Years) with an interval of exactly one, and no Last Serviced date has ever been set against it, Cim50 will use the start of the current period as the baseline:
- An interval of 1 Day uses the start of today.
- An interval of 1 Week uses the start of the current week (Monday).
- An interval of 1 Month uses the first day of the current month.
- An interval of 1 Year uses the first day of the current year.
This means a brand-new resource on a simple “every day”, “every week”, “every month” or “every year” schedule will start being measured from a sensible reference point even before its first service has been recorded.
For machine-hours intervals, and for time-based intervals greater than one (for example “every 3 months”), Cim50 requires a Last Serviced date to be set. Where one is missing, the resource appears on the MRP Exclusions list view rather than here — see the Exclusions article.
Actioning a service recommendation
You can record a service against a resource directly from the Servicing list view. Actioning a recommendation will create an ad-hoc Service booking in the Scheduler for that resource and update the resource’s Last Serviced date, so it stops appearing as overdue.
To action one or more service recommendations:
- Highlight one or more rows in the Servicing list view. To select more than one row, hold the Ctrl or Shift key while clicking.
- Click Process > Action on the toolbar, or right click on a selected row and choose Action from the menu.
- The Action Service screen will appear for the first selected resource. See the “Actioning a Service Recommendation” section of the Actioning MRP Recommendations article for what to fill in.
- Click Confirm to record the service. The Action Service screen will then open for the next selected row, and so on until each selected row has been processed.
Once a row has been actioned, the status will change to “Actioned”, the row will be highlighted in green, and the resource’s Last Serviced date will be updated to the End date you entered. The next time MRP runs, the recommendation will be cleared from the list.
Note: The Action option is only available where you have the “MRP – Action” access right against the Planning module, and only against rows that have not already been actioned. If you select a mixture of rows where one or more have already been actioned, the Action option will be unavailable until you re-select only the outstanding rows.
Configuration warnings
Where the only thing wrong with a resource is that its Last Serviced date is in the future, Cim50 still raises a row for it on the Servicing list view (sorted to the very top so you can see it) and also flags it on the MRP Exclusions list view with the reason “Last Serviced datetime is in the future — check the configured value”. This deliberate duplication means you can spot and correct the issue from either screen.
To clear the warning, open the affected resource in the Bill of Materials module (Machine Resources or Tooling Resources), correct the Last Serviced field, and refresh MRP.
Other configuration problems – a machine-hours interval with no Last Serviced date, or a time-based interval greater than one with no Last Serviced date – are shown only on the MRP Exclusions list view, not here. See the Exclusions article for more detail.
When MRP next runs
Service recommendations are recalculated each time MRP runs, whether you launch it manually from the Planning List screen or via the scheduled planning agent. Existing service recommendations are cleared and re-evaluated on each run, so a resource that has been serviced since the last run (and whose Last Serviced date has been updated as a result) will drop off the list automatically.
