Servicing

The Servicing tab on the Resources screen brings every service booking for your machines and tooling together in one place. Until now, service bookings for machines could only be seen on the Scheduler, and service bookings for tooling could not be seen at all because the Scheduler does not show tooling. The Servicing tab fixes that – it lists every booking against a machine or tooling resource whose booking code is configured as a Service type, regardless of whether the Scheduler is licensed.

Use this tab to:

  • See at a glance which services are coming up and which are recently complete.
  • Open a service booking to check or amend the dates, the resource and any notes recorded against it.
  • Trace back from a Servicing recommendation actioned in Planning to the underlying booking that was created.

What the list shows

Each row on the Servicing tab represents one service booking against either a machine or a tooling resource. The list does not include labour bookings – those are not service bookings.

The columns on the list are:

Resource: The reference of the machine or tooling resource being serviced.

Resource Description: The description of the resource being serviced.

Resource Type: Either “Machine” or “Tooling”, to indicate which register the resource belongs to.

Start Date: The start date of the service booking.

End Date: The end date of the service booking.

Rows are sorted with the most recently completed bookings first, so the bookings most recently in or out of service appear at the top. Scroll down the list to see older history.

Viewing or amending a booking

Highlight a row in the list and then use the buttons at the bottom of the tab:

View: Opens the selected service booking in a read-only view. The booking appears as a “Service Booking” – the Labour option is hidden because services are only ever booked against a machine or a tool, and the booking code is locked to the service code that was used when the booking was created.

Amend: Opens the selected service booking so you can change its details, including the dates, the resource and any notes against it. The same restrictions apply – the Labour option is hidden, and the booking code is locked. Use Save on the booking screen to record your changes; the Servicing tab refreshes automatically when you return.

Note: The Amend button is hidden when the Resources screen is opened in View mode. In View mode only the View button is available.

Note: The Servicing tab is available even on systems that do not have the Scheduler module licensed. The View and Amend windows are presented as Service Booking screens in that scenario, with no reference to the Scheduler.

How service bookings are created

Service bookings appear on the Servicing tab from any of the following sources:

  • Actioning a Servicing recommendation in the Planning module. When you action a Servicing recommendation, Cim50 creates a service booking against the resource and updates its Last Serviced date. See the Planning > Servicing article for detail on actioning recommendations.
  • Booking a service directly in the Scheduler (where the Scheduler module is licensed) using a booking code configured as a Service type.

Either way, the booking appears here so you can review it later, whether or not you have the Scheduler.
